Light It Up Blue For Autism

Today is Light It Up Blue For Autism Day.

To show our love and support for our autism angels we wore blue today, blue jeans, blue tops.....the works. My little man even broke school uniform rules today and wore blue socks (they're supposed to wear white) along with his blue sun hat.

What's the point in all the blue you ask?
Today (April 1st)  World Autism Awareness Day is being celebrated in Australia. It will be celebrated world wide tomorrow (April 2nd).   The idea is to wear blue, light up blue (we're also putting blue bulbs/globes in our outside lights, to light up blue) to show support and raise awareness for Autism.

April is Autism Awareness month so why not show some support, raise awareness and show the world what wonderful, amazing, clever and beautiful people our children are.

Uncooked Playdough - Sensory Fun!

Alot of children on the spectrum have sensory issues. Play Dough is one of the best (and cheapest) sensory toys available. Here is one recipe for a simple recipe, that requires no cooking but will provide hours of sensory fun.
Uncooked Play Dough
2 cups of plain flour
4 tablespoons of 'cream of tartar'
2 tablespoons of cooking oil
1 cup of salt
2 cups of boiling water
food colouring

*Just pop it all in a mixing bowl and mix!

*It looks as though it is not going to mix well at first but hang in there and throw it onto the bench to knead, and it will come  together really nicely.*

For even more sensory fun you can put different things into the mixture  such as glitter, sequins or sand. Just be careful you don't put things in like rice as they tend to go mouldy - we find glitter is really good.

Or maybe you could add peppermint oil for a great smell and even longer lasting playdough...... The possibilities are endless
